Hey hey hey, look who’s here? Well since you’ve come to this page – whether willingly or by mistake, you might as well stay for a while and find out who I am. My name is Devi Vanhon and I am a model, dancer, voice-over artist, DJ, radio presenter, and TV host currently based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
I am half Cambodian and half Swiss. I am from a family of royals and politicians. I happen to be the granddaughter of Khmer Princess Norodom Thiek and the great-grandniece of former Cambodian Prime Minister Chau Sen Cocsal Chhum. I was born and I grew up in Switzerland, moved to South-East Asia when I was 14 years old, not long after my father’s death and have been living in Cambodia for the past twelve years. Yada yada yada, finding my roots and reconnecting with my father’s country and culture. You know, the usual.
I hold a degree in economics and have then studied law for three years, but through fate, I met people from the radio industry at a concert in Phnom Penh in March of 2008. This event veered my career path towards media and entertainment. I joined the 97.5 Love FM team and started working at the radio, hosting a daily show. I am also a DJ and have played in various clubs in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, and Saigon. From 2008 to 2009, I was also TV Presenter on Apsara TV, where I hosted a daily show in French called “Correspondances”. I decided to take a break from the broadcast media world to open Cambodia’s very first ballet school in April 2012. I also trained in classical ballet full-time for three whole years, even attaining the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Intermediate examination. The ballet business was my primary focus all these year, until I decided to return to radio, joining Phnom Penh’s coolest newest kid on the block, Radio One FM 103.7 on December 12, 2014. I’ve been with my new radio family ever since.
I also keep on working as a photo model and promotional model and can sometimes be seen gracing pages of local and international magazines. I am also a voice over artist, frequently lending my voice to Cellcard, and featuring in many radio advertisements. I’ve returned to television as well, having been invited to host FoodMaps Cambodia on GOASEAN TV in Malaysia. It’s a TV show catered for the foodies of the world. I’m now working on creating my own video show. When I am not busy with all the things I do, I also love to spend time playing the piano, dabbling in graphic design, retouching photos, and trying to learn more languages in addition to English, French, and German that I already know.
My plans for the next ten years? Get back into dance, get rich or die tryin’, and if I’m still around eventually start some sort of dysfunctional family of my own.
Well, I guess this pretty much sums me up.
